Now there is a new way to get around in downtown Winston Salem, it is called a golf cart. What makes this really special is that the service is free. Free service? Come on, we all know nothing is really free. However this service really is free for those that ride. So how do they make their money? They are presently making their money through paid advertisements that adorn the top and sides of the golf carts. Of course, a tip for the driver is much appreciated but the service is free. The rides are being provide by a company called Camel City Caravans and according to the owner Kirsten Hinsley, business is booming. The service is becoming so popular that they are planning on adding an additional cart in a few weeks. So move over Uber, here comes Camel City Caravans. Hopefully, we will have an opportunity to try out their services in the near future.

Hinsley and her husband Ried came up with the idea and approached city leaders last year which passed an ordnance allowing golf carts on downtown streets as a taxi service.
